Family Conflicts and Learning Difficulties

Series 2

The objective of this series is to provide parents with an overview of the human learning process. Four main factors that shape emotional, intellectual, behavioral, and environmental learning will be discussed. These workshops consist of a broad view of how discipline styles influence the learning process.

Family Conflicts: Understanding Roles, Behavior and Consequences

Parents will increase their understanding of the dynamics that create family conflict and the effect of the role’s children take on and the way they behave.

Helping Children Find Solutions

This workshop will help parents understand the correlation between discipline, family structure and academic success.

What Children Seek with their Negative Behavior

Parents will explore how children's negative behaviors are an expression of an unmet need or a reflection of the dynamics that exist within the family.

Exploring Discipline Styles

This workshop will allow parents to compare the characteristics and results of raising a child with an unhealthy discipline style and a healthy assertive model. There will be an emphasis on lengthy discussions on how to develop a healthy discipline model within the family to help the child build self-control.

Behavior Modification with a Positive Spin

Parents will learn how to modify negative behaviors in their children by identifying, targeting, rewarding, and strengthening only positive behaviors.

Strengthening Children's Intellectual Abilities

Parents will learn about 8 different areas where intelligence can be developed. They will explore these different intelligences to determine in which area their child might excel. Activities will be given to strengthen each intellectual area.

Managing Learning Difficulties

Parents will explore the family issues that arise from having a child diagnosed with learning disabilities, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia. In addition, parents will receive extra support to facilitate their children's learning process.

Managing Family Conflicts

The roles of children within the family in times of family crisis will be analyzed. Parents will explore ways to help their children manage negative behaviors during these emotionally charged situations.
