Our Mission

Our mission is to help families to strengthen ties between family members, taking into consideration the emotional, psychological, and social components that affect their lives. For 20 years, we have been committed to proving that it is possible for children to achieve greater academic success by providing parents with a high-quality preventive and educational program with an emphasis on healthy and effective communication. The program also promotes creating a system for positive discipline, domestic violence prevention and creating a family atmosphere that will help improve their children’s academic abilities. All this professional assistance helps parents establish good work and study habits while working as a team in the home.”

We provide workshops designed to strengthen families and professional development training for school personnel. Both parents and directors have commented that our program participants have great things to say regarding the success of the workshops and how they help them to assure a better quality of family life and assertive discipline. As a result, School personnel has witnessed a significant academic improvement in their children. The workshop series by Grupo CRECER are designed to help improve the parent’s roles in their children’s academic success. Our educational plan for parents addresses social and environmental problems that predominantly working families are facing and whose children have demonstrated a great need for increased parental involvement in academic endeavors. Our programs are based on: The Systemic Structural Family Theory by Salvador Minuchin, and contributions on child rearing from Alfred Addler, as well as The Attachment Theory, developed by Bowlby. Topics are related to mental development by Dr. Daniel Siegel, among others.

Every series of workshops are presented in eight sessions that are highly interactive and each session lasts 2 hours. The workshops are scheduled to meet once per week for the duration of eight consecutive weeks. Highly experienced educators, psychologists and other mental health professionals lead the sessions. Parents are encouraged to maintain a continuity in participation for the entire eight sessions. Making modifications in parental skills is not easy to achieve for parents who only attend individual sessions. We recommend for parents to participate in weekly activities with their families so that they can practice and apply the concepts and techniques discussed in the class. Every series emphasizes the key messages which include:

1. Parents are the main teachers and educators for their children.
2. Academic achievements begin at home.
3. Academic success includes planning, enrolling, maintaining motivation and obtaining a college degree.
